60 Minutes Interviews Julian Assange

In WikiLeaks on January 30, 2011 at 11:38 PM

60 Minutes:

The Man Behind WikiLeaks

Julian Assange, the controversial founder of WikiLeaks, speaks to Steve Kroft about the U.S. attempt to indict him on criminal charges and the torrent of criticism aimed at him for publishing classified documents.

WikiLeaks Plays “Inside the Rules”

Julian Assange Stays On the Move

Before being placed under house arrest in Great Britain, Julian Assange lived what could be described a nomadic lifestyle. He explains to Steve Kroft why he was always on the move.

Assange’s Defense & Daniel Ellsberg

Will the newspapers that published documents obtained by WikiLeaks now help cover Julian Assange’s legal fees? Based on the experience of Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked secret Pentagon papers to the press in 1971, Assange doesn’t think so.

Assange On Playing By the Rules

Julian Assange argues that while there are rules for soldiers and members of the State Department on disclosing classified information, his actions are protected by the First Amendment.

60 Minutes Overtime:

Watching at home, it might seem simple to assemble the interviews and produce the pieces that you see on “60 Minutes” every Sunday night. Well, there was nothing “simple” about getting Julian Assange to sit down for his first major TV interview.

Naturally, “60 Minutes” wanted to hear from Assange himself. But for producers Tanya Simon and Howard Rosenberg and correspondent Steve Kroft just getting this interview was a story in and of itself.

OpenLeaks 101

In OpenLeaks on January 30, 2011 at 7:43 PM

OpenLeaks is a project that aims at making whistleblowing safer and more widespread. This will be done by providing dedicated and generally free services to whistleblowers and organizations interested in transparency. We will also create a Knowledge Base aiming to provide a comprehensive reference to all areas surrounding whistleblowing.

Watch our draft video above to see how we will work and how this is different from existing whistleblowing platforms.

Read our founding statement on our News page for more details. In the upcoming weeks and months we shall be releasing more information regarding our concept and progression thereof.

Help us become better!
